A Los Angeles man, David Leroy Carver Jr., 47, has been charged with interfering with flight crew members and attendants after an incident on a Breeze Airways flight traveling from Norfolk, Virginia to Los Angeles, California. The disturbance occurred on August 13, 2025, leading the flight to be diverted to Grand Junction Regional Airport.

According to the criminal complaint filed by authorities, Carver allegedly made inappropriate sexual comments and racial slurs toward a flight attendant during the commercial flight. When another passenger intervened and asked him to stop, Carver reportedly threatened that passenger and threw chewing tobacco at them. Another individual then restrained Carver so that flight attendants could place him in zip tie restraints.

During this process, Carver is accused of lunging at a flight attendant and injuring her hand. He later freed himself from the restraints, removed his belt, and wrapped it around his knuckles in what was described as a threatening manner before being separated from the belt by crew members.

Carver appeared in Federal Court in Grand Junction on August 14 before United States Magistrate Judge Richard T. Gurley.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Grand Junction Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer Springer is prosecuting the case.

“The charge in the criminal complaint is an allegation. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
