A Denver resident, Avian Mayo, 25, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on 21 counts, including charges of postal robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft. The indictment alleges that on March 4, 2024, Mayo attempted to rob a postal carrier with Brisa Sierra-Silva and Christopher Johnson. Later the same day, the group allegedly robbed another postal carrier.
Sierra-Silva and Johnson were previously indicted and appeared in court in spring 2025.
“The charges contained in the indictments are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado.
The United States Postal Inspection Service and the FBI Denver Field Office are investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Albert Buchman is prosecuting.
Case numbers associated with these indictments are 25-cr-00313-RMR for Mayo and 25-cr-00132-CNS for Sierra-Silva and Johnson.
