The 12th Judicial District in Colorado is seeking applicants for the position of public administrator. The announcement was made on January 14, 2026, in Alamosa.

A public administrator is a private individual appointed by the Chief Judge to collect, protect, and manage the assets of certain living individuals, typically through conservatorship, and to administer the estates of certain decedents when there is no one willing or able to do so. This role does not make the appointee an employee of any city, county, or state government entity or agency.

Applicants must be qualified electors over 21 years old and either reside in or maintain a principal place of business within the 12th Judicial District. This district includes Alamosa, Conejos, Costilla, Mineral, Rio Grande, and Saguache counties.

Applications require a cover letter detailing qualifications, a resume, and three professional references. These materials should be submitted via email to Gaynell Elliott at gaynell.elliott@judicial.state.co.us by 5 p.m. on February 1, 2026.

More information about the position can be found at https://www.coloradojudicial.gov/sites/default/files/2026-01/Public%20Administrator%20Opportunity%20-%2012th%20JD.pdf.
